Lakshmi Road

Lakshmi Road performs acoustic fusion, the content of which is based on original compositions and covers. Their work is inspired by ancient European and Indian motifs and traditions, but it does not come down to conservative and authentic performance at all. And the instrumental composition of the band speaks for itself: sitar and tabla on the one hand, soprano saxophone and cello on the other. More recently, Lakshmi Road, without leaving work on their own material, turned to the work of rock bands of the golden era of the 1960s and 70s, reworking famous compositions of those times. It is no secret that the musicians of the "Woodstock generation" often sought inspiration in Indian rhythms and motifs; this was the impetus for the creation of a kind of "reverse wave" — the idea of performing cover versions of classical rock music using Indian instruments and in a completely unusual sound for it.
The band's sitarist Ivan Muralov is a graduate of Benares University in Varanasi, a student of Pandit Rabindra Narayan Goswami, one of the few professional sitar performers in Russia.
Kirill Parenchuk studied the tradition of playing tabla drums with Pandit Keshab Kanti Choudry, Pandit Rade Shyam Sharma, Pandit Lachchu Makharaj. For two decades now, he has been bringing the Indian tradition to various musical groups in Russia and working with the best domestic ethno- and ethno-rock projects - for example, with zaINDIveli, Brew, Dinaram.
Cellist Maria Khudobina, a graduate of the Moscow State Conservatory and winner of Russian competitions as part of the academic piano trio, is another versatile musician whose instrument fits into both acoustic bard projects and post-rock.
Anna Boehme, Moscow pianist and composer, winner of the competitions "Manor Jazz Sochi", "New/Open Showcase Festival", winner of the competition "Piano in Jazz" (in the nominations "ensemble" and "composition"), finalist of the international jazz competition in Bucharest. Anna is engaged in improvisational music in different styles — jazz, funk, world music. She participates in the work of the Masala Quartet, Amazin' Five, C-Jam Club Jazz Orchestra, Flying Fish, etc.
